In research paper, you will advance your understanding of how a research question represented in Turkle (Reclaiming Conversation) has been investigated in sociological research and/or how sociological research has added to our understanding of this research question. You can focus attention on one or more chapters in one of these books and then search the sociological literature for research that addresses the research question of interest or that modifies or extends it in some way. You will need to demonstrate an understanding of the author’s (Turkle) perspective and suggest some potentially productive directions for new research and/or theorizing about the research question of interest to you in the book.

Search SocINDEX to find articles in sociological journals (other databases of academic journals can also be used) and use articles that are available in full text online from another source.

After the title page, the final paper is to include (with headings and subheadings): (1) a one- paragraph abstract (overview of the paper); (2) an introduction to the research question and a statement about how you will address it in your paper; (3) an overview of how Turkle presented the research question and how they answered it; (4) a review of the related research literature attempting to answer this research question (the 5 articles); (6) a discussion section in which you summarize what the research (and theorizing, if relevant) adds to Turkle’s presentation about research on this research question; (7) a conclusions section in which you identify limitations of the research you have reviewed (including Turkle), challenges in studying the research question, and also suggest next steps for sociologists interested in the research question; (8) a bibliography.
